Atlassian EngFest 2025

For the past 5 years, EngFest- Atlassian’s annual internal conference for their gigantic A/NZ engineering teams had been lowkey, held in offices around Australia and featuring casual internal-style programming and accompaniments. 

The Brief

With a growing team and remote-work pressures, Atlassian’s Internal Events Team approached us with 2 months lead time and a goal: elevate the 2025 EngFest for the team of 400+ engineers that work tirelessly to create and maintain Atlassian’s products.

It was a simple brief…

• 2 days of conferencing and content across 5 tracks including keynote / locknote and breakout labs
• 3 nights worth of accommodation for those travelling from around A/NZ
• 1 offsite celebration

The Work

With only 8-weeks lead time, we hit the ground running. There are only a handful of hotels in Sydney that could support this brief - so we called our contacts and got the quotes underway. We checked 12 venues across a months-worth of dates, and settled on the beautiful Sofitel Darling Harbour for our event requirements. 

Darling Harbour provided the perfect backdrop to the conference, only a short walk from Atlassian’s Sydney HQ and surrounded by many enticing offsite venues. We settled on Sydney icon, Cafe del Mar as the venue for the offsite welcome function. 

We worked hand-in-hand with the Atlassian Internal Events Team over Slack, operating as an extension of their team to ensure their internal stakeholders remained informed and excited.

The Outcome

The 2025 edition of EngFest raised the bar, with some simple branding elements bringing ownership to the Sofitel - which proved to be the perfect venue for our audience’s size and requirements. Across 2 full days of content, the event brought together over 400 of Atlassian’s Australian team, providing them with the opportunity to connect - many having not met in person before.
